The Other’s River
The Other’s River documents a journey through Indonesia made while accompanying my partner on a return to his ancestral land. The work unfolds through remote and protected landscapes, shaped by long periods of immersion in nature.

The series reflects on proximity without belonging: on being present within an inherited territory that is not my own, and on observing a place through another person’s roots. Along the way, moments of deep connection with the land coexist with the visible realities of tourism, exploitation, and local poverty — experiences often absent from idealized representations.

Water and the sea became central to the experience, opening a physical and intuitive relationship with the landscape. The Other’s River marks a turning point in my artistic practice, grounded in accompaniment, attention, and the quiet traces left by moving through another’s history.
